Regular clubs

As mentioned in the 'About' section, there is normally a focus on a select few clubs, and they'll probably be covered more than anyone else.

See more information about them and why I cover them below.

Walsall

The club that most people forget about when they're talking about West Midlands football. Although that's fine. I'm sure they're over it. They've got American owners, you know. Proper dosh.

There's always a place in my heart for Walsall as I went to numerous games with my Old Man. For whatever reason, though, I don't support them, and to be honest I've probably dropped a right clanger there, because most people have heard of Walsall, but having to explain where Farnborough is (stay tuned) is a little more difficult.

The Saddlers are still going well, though, and look destined to move up into the third tier this season, with one of the best season for Walsall in recent memory. Still a long way to go as I write this, but with a manager and owner both with the surname Sadler and unrelated to each other, it all fits too well to go wrong.

Farnborough

Right then, here we go.

So, Farnborough were formed - or rather reformed - in 2007 after some muppet decided to mess with the club and bugger everything up. For those who are unaware, they are in North Hampshire and currently play in the National South.

Family links in Farnborough meant I was taken to a game at five years old - a 0-0 draw home to Staines Town - how thrilling. I eventually got back into football around 2017 after falling out of love with the game, and while at a Farnborough game, I thought "Well, I might as well just support these lot then, I guess."

And that was that. A club on the up though. Losing 5-0 at home to Bishop's Stortford in front of 150 people then 18 months later being ripped a new one by Tiverton in front of 300 people, thinking that was a good crowd. It's all happened at the San Cherrio. Thankfully, it's been a bit better since then. A promotion, a cup run and crowds in four figures? Pretty decent I'd say.

Chasetown

Up the Chase! My local side growing up, and I always go and watch them when I get the chance to. A very well run club that have unfortunately been stuck at Step 4 for far too long.

I don't think it needs much more explanation than that! Make sure you go and support your local before it's too late.

Walsall Wood

I've written about The Wood a number of times on this site and had some good times down there doing work with the media side of the club.

Unfortunately, blogs at the Wood will cease for the foreseeable future as the first team have resigned from the league. Always a shame to see, and hopefully the club will start up again soon. That first game back, if it happens, will definitely be a blog.
